Oh, I'd listen to him sing. But I reserve the right to be amused.

Actually, that's one of the things I love about Deadheads: the fact that the music isn't about A Show or about Perfection, but the sense of community that embraces the band and asks more that music be done with heart, rather than demanding to be passively entertained with some super-polished, techno-enhanced artifice. Say what you will about Phil's singing, it's certainly not polished. The fact that Deadheads can embrace that is a real positive to me. I don't mean in the sense that "they'll take anything," but in the broader sense of what it shows about how the music is approached.
